Market sources Tuesday said San Francisco may see tightened bunker availability over the coming weeks as a planned outage at Chevron Corporation's (Chevron's) refinery in Richmond, California continues, Platts reports.

Chevron did not provide further details on the outage or its planned length, but noted that it will continue to supply its customers.

The outage, which began Tuesday, has been estimated to last 45 days, said sources.

"Chevron typically supplies their San Francisco bunker market from Richmond," said one California bunker market source, adding: "I would think that would make San Francisco availability tighter."

Ship & Bunker data shows that IFO 380 prices at San Francisco have been rising for the past week, swelling to $283.50 per metric tonne (pmt) Tuesday, up from $267 pmt last Wednesday.
