Wärtsilä Corp. (Wärtsilä) says it will provide technical management services for Harvey Gulf International Marine LLC (Harvey Gulf)'s liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered vessels operating in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

The five-year agreement covers condition-based maintenance and dynamic maintenance planning for six LNG-fuelled platform supply vessels (PSVs), as well as two diesel-powered offshore construction vessels.

Under the contract, Wärtsilä is responsible for ensuring that the vessels run at their optimal level, keeping fuel consumption and maintenance costs as low as possible.

"Harvey Gulf's decision to become the leader in Clean Gulf of Mexico offshore operations has been enthusiastically accepted by oil company executives," said Harvey Gulf CEO Shane Guidry.

"And we are extending our partnership with Wärtsilä, through this Technical Management Agreement, to assure our new fleet of vessels are maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability and availability."

Wärtsilä, which supplied systems for the LNG-fuelled PSVs, recently announced that it would also provide the control system for Harvey Gulf's LNG-fuelling facility.
