A fourth U.S. Navy officer has been arrested and charged in the ongoing investigation into a bribery scandal involving defense contractor Glenn Defense Marine Asia (GDMA), the U.S. Department of Justice announced.

Petty Officer First Class Dan Layug is charged with receiving bribes to send "sensitive U.S. Navy information" to GDMA employees.

The complaint says Layug provided information including classified ship schedules, which he accessed using his position as a logistics specialist, and passed them on to GDMA in exchange for cash, travel expenses, and consumer electronics.

The complaint cites communication from GDMA's vice president of global operations to a company accountant saying "at the end of each month, we will be providing an allowance to Mr. Dan Layug. Total of US $1000. You may pay him the equivalent in Yen. He will come by the office at the end of each month to see you."

Three other Navy officers, as well as employees of GDMA, have been arrested over the scandal, and the company's general manager, Alex Wisidagama, pleaded guilty last month to conspiring to defraud the U.S. government.
