Bunkers International Corp. (Bunkers International) will add two double hull barges to its fleet, helping it expand its U.S. operation to serve new ports, the company said in an emailed press release.

"The addition of these two barges will enable our physical supply company – Atlantic Gulf Bunkering – to better meet the needs of our growing customer base in our existing ports and permit the expansion of service to several other ports that we are considering," said CEO John Canal.

The company has been expanding from its core market in Colombia into other parts of the Americas, particularly the U.S., and last year it formed Atlantic Gulf Bunkering LLC (Atlantic Gulf).

Atlantic Gulf has barge-based operations in Mobile, Gulfport, Pascagoula, Pensacola, and Panama City Beach, Florida and also provides high- and low-sulfur fuel oil (HSFO and LSFO), as well as marine gas oil (MGO) by truck throughout the Atlantic Gulf region.

The new 17,000-barrel AGB EllaC and 10,000-barrel AGB-JPC bring the U.S-based fleet to five vessels.

Bunkers International announced earlier this year that it is expanding its supply operation in Colombia as well.
