Bunker deliveries at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach have grown by 33 percent since last year, having hit 1 million barrels for the sixth consecutive month as of this September, reports Platts.

In particular, Long Beach on its own saw a 177 percent rise in fuel deliveries to 275,689 barrels in September, while typically-busier Los Angeles increased by 12.9 percent to 802,893 barrels

The port complex has so far been riding the wave of increased fuel deliveries that came when OW Bunker became the region's third-largest supplier in May

However, the collapse of the fuel supplier may also herald diminished deliveries for the remainder of the year, some West Coast traders predicted.

O.W. Bunker North America intends to auction its inventory of around 30,000 metric tonnes (mt) of marine fuel next week.
