Philly Shipyard, Inc. (PSI) today announced that it has delivered American Endurance, the first of four next generation liquefied natural gas (LNG)-ready 50,000 DWT product tankers being built for American Petroleum Tankers (APT) by PSI.

"In collaboration with American Petroleum Tankers, we are proud of our contributions to renew the current tanker fleet with a more modern and environmentally friendly design," said PSI.

The vessel is noted to be based on a design by Hyundai Mipo Dockyards (HMD) that features a number of fuel efficiency and flexible cargo solutions, and adheres to the latest regulatory requirements.

The 600-foot vessel, which has a 14.5 million gallon carrying capacity, has received ABS' LNG Ready Level 1 approval.

American Endurance comes as part of a $568 million agreement signed between APT's principal, Kinder Morgan, and Philly Tankers in August 2015.

In July, General Dynamics NASSCO (NASSCO) announced that it had completed the float-out of the Bay State, the fourth of five 50,000 DWT, LNG conversion-ready, and fuel efficient ECO Class tankers being built for APT by NASSCO.
