An ongoing chartering dispute between Greece's Phoenix Shipping & Trading and Dubai-based MUR Shipping has led to another ship being arrested in Singapore, reports Tradewinds.

The Liberia-flagged Intrepid, owned by Phoenix, was arrested after MUR filed documents seeking $336,000 in unnamed damages.

"Unfortunately, MUR has seemingly opted to defend their position not in the legal fora allowed under the governing charter party but in an aggressive manner," said Phoenix Managing Director George Gourdomichalis.

"Owners will be defending their claim in arbitration and will take all steps to release the vessel as soon as possible and to secure their rights accordingly."

Intrepid Shipping & Trading SA, the Intrepid's registered owner, also began arbitration proceedings back in June in an attempt to claim $103,000 in unpaid hire payments and bunker value adjustment.

Another case involving an arrest of a ship over unpaid bunker bills had previously been declared "unlawful" by the Singapore High Court, a pronouncement which was overturned this week.
