A Hanjin Shipping Co. (Hanjin) Panamax container ship has been arrested in Singapore, according to the latest records from the Supreme Court of Singapore.

The 1998-built Hanjin Rome was detained on Monday at 9:30pm local time following action by AsiaLegal LLC.

The 5,300 teu capacity box ship is worth scrap value of $6.9 million, according to VesselsValue.com.

While specific details of the arrest are unknown, Hanjin has been in severe financial difficulties and Wednesday filed for court receivership, paving the way for what would be by far the biggest ever container shipping failure.

A number of the carrier's other vessels are also reported to have been arrested in other ports, including the 13,000 teu box ship Hanjin Sooho in Shanghai.
