Bunker sales in Singapore for July 2014 grew 8.56 percent month-on-month to 3,662,600 metric tonnes (mt), according to the latest data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), although the volume was down 2.09 percent, or 78,200 mt, on the 3,740,800 mt sold in July 2013.

The July total for all products was the second highest monthly total of 2014, following the 3,812,900 mt sold in April.

Sales of the port's most popular product, 380 cSt grade bunkers, were up 9.61 percent month-on-month to 2,718,200 mt.

After hitting an all-time high in April this year, the port's second most popular product, 500 cSt fuel, recovered from two months of falling volumes and recorded a rise in July of 10.33 percent month-on-month to 737,800 mt, the grade's second highest ever monthly sales total.

Vessel calls in July were down just 0.49 percent month-on-month to 11,172, and were 6.84 percent lower year-on-year, while calls for bunkers rose 6.64 percent month-on-month to 3,278, but were 134, or 3.93 percent, fewer than the period last year.

The results for July mean that Singapore's sales are continuing to track closely with the performance last year, with a year-to-date sales volume of 24,507,000 mt for all products, 120,500 mt or 2.09 percent lower than the year-to-date total at this point last year.
