Singapore's bunker sales volumes edged up in August, according to the latest official data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), which showed a year-on-year gain of 5.18 percent to 3,668,800 metric tonnes (mt), a month-on-month increase of 0.17 percent.

Sales of IFO380 product, the port's most popular grade, were up 6.45 percent year-on-year to 2,736,700 mt, while the port's second most popular grade, 500 cSt, rose 5.06 percent year-on-year to 728,100 mt.

Vessel calls for August were down some 7 percent compared to the same period last year, while calls for bunkers fell back only slight to 3,236, compared to 3,275 in August 2013.

The August results mean 2014's bunker sales volume continues to closely track last year's performance, with the year-to-date sales for all products currently standing at 28,175,800 mt, just 60,200 mt ahead of the 28,115,600 mt sold at this point in 2013.
