Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. [NYSE: ANW] this month will launch a representative office in Seoul, South Korea, the global supplier and trader has told Ship & Bunker.

"The inauguration of a new representative office in Seoul emphasises Aegean's commitment to working even more closely with our South Korean customers in meeting their global bunkering requirement with the group's physical supply and back-to-back trading operations," the company said.

"Aegean has a long and successful record of cooperating with South Korea's leading shipowners, operators and bunker trading companies across our global physical network. By deploying a representative in the local market we aim to strengthen our links with these important customers."

In the emailed comments to Ship & Bunker, the company also noted that the move comes at a time the Aegean Group marks its 10th anniversary of having a direct presence in the Asian markets, following the start of physical supply operations in Singapore in 2006.

"In October 2015 Aegean opened a representative office in Shanghai which represents the group's physical supply and back-to-back trading services to clients in Greater China," the company added.

"The addition of an Aegean representative office in Seoul in 2016 represents the next step in developing the group's presence in the Asian shipping and bunkering markets."

The new Seoul office is the latest development in what has already been a busy year of expansion for the bunker company, having earlier launched new ventures in the South American and South African markets.
