Bunkering operations at South Korea's southern ports have been halted due to the threat of Typhoon Goni, Platts reports

Similarly, some of the Eastern Taiwanese ports will also see bunkering operations interrupted, Taiwanese state-owned oil company CPC Corporation said in an emailed statement.

According to reports, the storm was expected to hit Japan Tuesday morning before continuing north to South Korea.

In South Korea, the ports at Ulsan, Onsan, Busan and Yosu were reportedly closed as of late Monday, with all set to reopen on Wednesday except for Ulsan.

No date has reportedly been set for Ulsan, though it's expected that it will re-open along with Onsan.

Taiwan's ports at Suao and Hualien will also reportedly see bunkering halted, though CPC said that Keelung, Taichung and Koahsiung would remain unaffected.

"Due to the coming typhoon, suppliers have announced that vessels' berthing and bunkering schedules might be delayed," said an unnamed South Korean trader.

According to the Japanese meteorological agency, South Korean ports are expecting waves between 2-4 metres, as well as strong winds.

Around this time last year, the threat of Typhoon Mato also caused several Taiwanese ports to halt bunkering operations.
