Singapore has recorded another huge month of bunker sales for November 2016, with the latest preliminary data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) showing a total of 4,142,200 metric tonnes (mt) sold for all products.

The total represents the highest ever November sales volume, and the sixth highest overall for any month at the port.

It also puts the year to date sales total at 44,709,400 mt - higher than the full year total of any previous year bar 2015, and only 446,200 mt short of the full year record of 45,155,600 set last year.

As always, IFO380 sales made up the majority of November's sales, with 3,067,700 mt sold - a very typical 74.1% of the overall volume.

It was business as usual too for 500 cSt, the port's second most popular product, which saw sales of 858,800 mt.

Even though November saw slightly fewer vessel calls month on month at 11,713 compared to 11,928 in October, there were 3,521 calls for bunkers in November, compared to 3,507 in October.

The average stem size for November was also slightly higher at 1,176 mt, compared to 1,143 mt last month.

With the trailing twelve-month bunker sales total now standing at 48.7 million mt, whether Singapore will break its annual bunker sales record in 2016 is now no longer in doubt.

The only question is by how much will the sales total grow.
