Capital Ship Management Corp. (Capital) Thursday announced that it has marked the first accredited assessment of their Monitoring, Reporting, Verification (MRV) monitoring plan for the vessel M/T Alkiviadis on March 7, 2017 from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Ltd. (LRQA).

"This achievement reflects our company's strategy and commitment to be proactive in moving towards a sustainable maritime industry," said Evangelos Marinakis, Chairman of Capital Maritime & Trading Corp.

As Ship & Bunker has reported, the European Union's (EU's) MRV regulation requires shipping companies to submit ship-specific monitoring plans to verifiers for approval by the end of August 2017, with per-voyage monitoring set to start on January 1, 2018.

Earlier this month, LRQA announced that it had been accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to globally deliver services for the assessment of monitoring plans and verification of emissions reports related to the EU MRV regulation.
