The Board of Directors at Spain's Port of Huelva Thursday approved special conditions to enable the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkers to ships at the port by barge.

The port is said to be aiming to become a regional hub for such activities, leveraging its strategic location within Southwest Europe, its regasification plant, and its proximity to main pipeline network assets.

As Ship & Bunker previously reported, Huelva has been working toward the development of LNG bunkering facilities since the port announced its interest in February 2015.
