Demark-based Unioil Supply A/S (Unioil) Tuesday announced that it has renewed its agreements to supply bunkers to the fishing and offshore industries in the Barents, Kara, and Norwegian Seas, Russian Zone, and Svalbard.

"We have now been operating in the area for eight months to the great satisfaction of both ourselves and our customers, and thus we have naturally chosen to enter into agreements that ensure our operation in the area for the next 12 months," said Carsten Klausen, Managing Director of Unioil.

Unioil says the development ensure the company's permanent and stable presence in the region, and provide purchasers with bunkering at fair pricing and short delivery times.

"Before Unioil Supply established itself here, the area was known for its offerings of bunkers not being particularly stable as well as the prices being rather volatile and unreasonably high due to the lack of competition, which was not to the benefit of the customers in the area," explained the company.

Deliveries are performed by the 3,200 metric tonne (mt) capacity MT Nordstraum, which features an automatic stern-line for bunkering on the open sea in the region's extreme weather conditions.

"With our entry into the agreements for the next year, we hope that we are making it clear to both our current and potential customers that we are a permanent and stable bunker supplier in their area," said Lars Elsberg, Unioil's Sales Manager.

"We are quite serious when it comes to this setup, and they can count on us both in terms of the quality as well as with respect to getting a fair price."

Last year, Bunker Holding Group (Bunking Holding) announced it was set to build Denmark's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) production facility through its subsidiary Unioil, which would be responsible for the commercial operations of the project.
