Following a 24 hour strike at APM Terminals in Sweden's Port of Gothenburg, which began Tuesday morning, section 4 of the Swedish Dockworkers’ Union (Svenska Hamnarbetarförbundet) says it is set to launch a further 24 hour work stoppage on Thursday April 28, beginning at 7 a.m.

A notice on the union website Monday gave notice on the strike action, with Thursday action coming as no solution had been found for the various issues with management at Wednesday's discussions.

APT Terminals is reported to be currently assessing how the work stoppage will affect daily business, while other terminals at the port are not expected to be affected.

"We respect the union’s role in discussions about salaries, safety, work environment and similar issues, but we find it unreasonable that a local department should be able to announce a strike over e.g. changes in general employee benefits," said Henrik Kristensen, Managing Director APM Terminals in Gothenburg.
