Skangas AS (Skangas) has announced that it has signed an agreement with Statoil ASA (Statoil) for the small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) reload to take place at Lithuania's Klaipeda LNG Terminal.

Skangas says it sees the move as a "natural next step" to support the development of the small-scale market in Northern Europe, which includes LNG bunkering.

The reload is set to occur in early January 2017, and is noted to be the first time Skangas will source LNG from Statoil.

"We see this latest agreement as a confirmation of the two companies' common interest to promote LNG in order to continuously develop the small-scale LNG market," said Tor Morten Osmundsen, CEO of Skangas.

As Ship & Bunker reported in October, Skangas had also signed an agreement with Statoil for the supply of LNG bunkers to their platform supply vessels (PSVs), delivered by ship to several bases along the Norwegian west coast.

Further, Skangas notes that the deal will be supported by their new LNG feeder and bunker ship Coralius, which will be ready by mid 2017.
