OceanConnect Marine (OCM) Thursday announced its launch of Athens-based bunker trading with two new hires.

Senior traders Anthi Tsahilidou and Yannis Vassilatos, noted to have been formerly of Bominflot, will join OCM's in-house lubricants trader Christos Katarachias at OCM's office in Voula, Athens.

"We are delighted to add our sixth trading location. OCM's prudent approach to growth, combined with the strength of our parent company Glencore, has us well-positioned to expand strategically into new markets as opportunities arise," said OCM Managing Director S.I. Shim.

"We will be announcing further exciting hires in Q1 and Q2 of 2017," he added.

Tsahilidou was noted to have been a former Manager of International Sales at Bominflot Athens, where she worked for more than 16 years, while Vassilatos has ten years of experience as a bunker trader with OW Greece and Bominflot.

"OCM has some of the most experienced customer-focused traders in the market. Anthi and Yiannis are experienced traders who will fit well into our global team and enhance our presence in the Mediterranean," said OCM's Chief Commercial Officer Daniel Rose.

"OCM has a strong parent and we don't assign our receivables, so we are confident our trading model is well-suited to the Athens market."

The expansion follows December's arrival of Chong Han as Senior Trader at OCMs offices in Singapore.
