Norway-based Connect LNG AS (Connect LNG) Monday says approval has been received for a grant from Innovation Norway's Environmental Technology fund in support of the company's transfer system, LNG World News reports.

Connect LNG says the system, which is designed to connect to a terminal by way of floating flexible pipes that allow fluid transfer, is the "first full-scale universal transfer system (UTS)."

The supporting grant is said to be one of the largest that the Norwegian government provided last year.

The company also says it intends to partner with Herøya Industrial Park at the Port of Grenland in order to contruct the UTS.

The UTS is intended to decrease costs in the construction of LNG terminals, says Connect LNG, noting that the system eliminates the need for a dedicated jetty for small-scale LNG vessels.

Last year, the Norwegian Government signed a declaration aimed at making Norway's coastal fleet the world's most environmentally friendly.
