A new Total Lubmarine barge operating at the Port of Antwerp uses biolubricants and voluntarily follows the port's Environmental Ship Index (ESI) standards, industry news site MarineLink reports.

The vessel, Trafuco 7, is a 795-cubic meter capacity vessel used for the transport of oils, including system oils and trunk piston engine oils.

The vessel has a double hull, conforming to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO)'s MARPOL Annex I regulations.

"The addition of Trafuco 7 to Total Lubmarine's operated fleet is testament to our commitment to continually upgrading our services and standards to meet the needs of customer vessels operating in Belgium," said Serge Dal Farra, the company's global marketing manager.

"As Europe's most central seaport, The Port of Antwerp is not only a gateway to the continent for ship operators, but also provides excellent links to more than 500 direct destinations all over the world."

The introduction of the new barge follows the launch of the barge Atlantic Energy in Rotterdam last year.
