Gazprom Marketing & Trading (GM&T) this week announced that its newly-delivered fifth ice class vessel, Pskov, has bunkered in Nakhodka, Russia, marking the first time a GM&T time-chartered liquid natural gas (LNG) carrier has bunkered in a Russian port.

The bunkers were provided by GazpromNeft Marine Bunker, a fellow Gazprom subsidiary.

"The port of Nakhodka is an increasingly important international bunkering hub which provides cost savings and voyage optimisation opportunities for companies operating in Asia,"said Managing Director of Shipping Nikolai Grigoriev.

"Bunkering our time-chartered LNG/c Pskov at Nakhodka is a milestone for the GM&T group, as it signifies our expanding shipping capability and flexibility which is particularly relevant for our future projects in the region such as Vladivostok LNG."

Pskov has since received bunkers of HFO and MGO while in the Nakhodka port and soon plans to deliver on its maiden voyage to Asia.

This past May, Gazprom sought a Singapore listing and in July, Gazprom Germaina said it will work with the operator of the port of Rostock on the Baltic Sea to develop LNG bunkering facilities.
