DNV GL today announced that Norway's Seatrans Ship Management has signed an agreement to utilise DNV GL's bunker-saving fleet performance management solution ECO Insight on 20 vessels, including 13 chemical tankers and seven dry cargo ships.

"We are very pleased to welcome Seatrans Ship Management to the ECO Insight family," said Torsten Büssow, Head of Fleet Performance Management at DNV GL.

"Our solution has been implemented on more than 750 vessels so far, many of them are tanker companies."

DNV GL’s performance management portal ECO Insight is noted to supplement customers' own fleet reports with industry data, including information and data on fuel, benchmarking, Automatic Identification System (AIS), and weather.

Further, the system features advanced engineering methods, such as hull fouling prediction in order to optimise bunker savings.

"We need to have full insight into the performance of our fleet and use this to continually improve our operations. ECO Insight will help us to achieve this," said Gisle Rong, Managing Director Seatrans Ship Management.

"The fact that it is also easy to install and allows us to harmonise operational and technical reporting onboard were also important factors for choosing ECO Insight."

Last month, DNV GL announced that the newest release of ECO Insight includes a variety of new analytical and reporting features that enable shipowners to manage more vessel data, and provides more frequent and higher quality results.
