A bunker tanker last week collided with a jetty in Cyrpus after unloading its cargo of gasoil, local media reports.

"No oil leaks or injuries have been incurred by the incident," said VTT Vasiliko Ltd. (VTTV), who received the cargo.

The tanker is said to have crashed into the new jetty at Vassilikos port, damaging part of the jetty's trestle, during bad weather.

The loading jetty was only opened for use in November 2014 and is part of a 28-tank fuel storage facility with a capacity of 540,000 cubic metres.

The jetty's oil pipelines were said to have been left undamaged in the incident, but "full evaluation of the damage will be carried out once weather conditions allow," said the company.

The tanker is understood to have sustained only minor damage.

According to the report, plans for a Liquefid Natural Gas (LNG) terminal at the port have been tabled but are currently on hold.

In 2013, VTTI B.V., parent of VTTV has said it had plans to make the Vassilikos facility an energy hub for the Mediterranean-Black Sea region.
