MAN Diesel & Turbo said Monday it has received an order to supply its Dual-Fuel Diesel Electric (DFDE) propulsion solution for four liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers (LNGCs) that will be constructed at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai, China.

The new vessels were said to be for an international consortium that includes Teekay LNG Partners.

For each vessel the propulsion solution includes 2, 12V51/60DF and 2, 8L51/60DF engines.

MAN Diesel said their engines are specified as IMO Tier II-compliant in diesel mode and have lower exhaust-gas emissions in gas mode than IMO Tier III stipulates.

The engines will be produced at MAN Diesel & Turbo's facility in Augsburg, Germany, and are expected to be delivered during 2015, with final vessel delivery scheduled between September 2017 and January 2019.

In June last year MAN Diesel & Turbo said it won the contract to supply 30 MAN 51/60DF dual-fuel engines for six LNGCs.
