MAN Diesel & Turbo SE (MAN) today announced that its marine liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel-gas-system manufacturer, MAN Cryo, has signed a contract with Turkey's Sefine Shipyard for the delivery of a LNG fuel-gas supply system (FGSS) to an Italian ferry.

The vessel, which is being built for Caronte & Tourist, is a LMG Marin AS (LMG Marin)-designed double-ended RoPax ferry.

The MAN Cryo system, scheduled for delivery in November 2017, will supply gas to the ferry's three dual-fuel propulsion engines.

Specifically, the LNG supply system is noted to consist of a 150 m3 vacuum-insulated storage tank and auxiliary equipment, including an LNG vaporizer, pressure build-up unit, bunker station, and heat exchanger.

The vessel, which is said to become the first of its kind with LNG propulsion, will largely operate on the Strait of Messina between Villa San Giovanni and Messina.
