ExxonMobil Marine Fuels and Lubricants on Friday announced in an emailed press release that, following extensive testing, it has gained OEM approval from Eaton Corp. and Parker Hannifin Denison for its Mobil SHC Aware H series of hydraulic fluids .

ExxonMobil says the products are designed to meet the requirements for environmentally acceptable lubricants (EAL) as outlined in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP), and meet the VGP requirements for biodegrability, non-toxicity, and non-bioaccumlation.

"The receipt of these key hydraulic OEM approvals confirms that Mobil SHC Aware H series is not only compliant with environmental regulations, but it can also protect and optimise the performance of hydraulic systems operating in challenging environments," said Ray Pomfret, Global Marine Lubricants Sales Manager at Exxon Mobil.

The lubricant series is said to be suitable for marine application such as in controllable pitch propellers, fin stabilisers, hydraulic steering systems, and deck equipment.

The new United States Vessel General Permit requirements came into effect on December 19, 2013.
