Ardmore Shipping Corporation (Ardmore) Friday announced that it has taken delivery of two more ECO design chemical and product tanker newbuildings, the Ardmore Chippewa and Ardmore Seahawk, both of which were said to have already commenced service in the company's fleet.

The company says it took delivery of the 25,233 DWT Ardmore Chippewa on November 13, the final of four Ardmore newbuilding orders for 2015 from Fukuoka Shipbuilding Co., Ltd shipyard in Nagasaki, Japan.

The delivery of the 49,999 DWT IMO 2/3 Ardmore Seahawk followed shortly after on November 16, and is the final of four newbuilding orders for 2015 from the SPP Shipbuilding Co., Ltd Dukpo shipyard in Korea.

"We are pleased to welcome the Ardmore Chippewa and the Ardmore Seahawk to our fleet of modern, fuel-efficient MR product and chemical tankers, successfully completing our initial newbuilding program at a time when charter markets continue to demonstrate sustained strength," said Anthony Gurnee, Ardmore's CEO.

"With our 24-vessel fleet now fully delivered and deployed primarily in the spot market, we are well positioned to realize the full potential of a strengthening winter market."

In July, Ardmore announced that it had taken delivery of a 49,999 DWT product and chemical tanker equipped with various fuel-saving systems, including a Skysails voyage optimisation software.

In October, Ardmore said it is "very bullish" on the product tanker market outlook, and is confident that the sector will strengthen over the coming winter months.
