Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) Thursday announced that it has taken the delivery of its latest newbuld "eco" vessel, the woodchip carrier C.S. Bright.

The vessel, which has a cargo hold capacity of about 4.3 million cubic feet, is said to feature environmentally friendly specifications to reduce CO2 emissions including a rudder bulb fin for increased propulsion efficiency, as well as low-friction hull paint.

The C.S. Bright is also said to have been designed with a shallow draft and a cargo hold that maximises capacity, enabling the efficient loading of wood chips.

Following its delivery, the vessel is said to have departed to deliver a cargo of wood chips to Australia for Hokuetsu Kishu Paper Co., Ltd.

In July, it was announced that MOL had placed an order for methanol-powered carriers as part of its overall environmental strategy.
