ClassNK Consulting Service Co., Ltd. (ClassNK) Friday announced that it has been selected by "K" Line Ship Management (Singapore) Pte Ltd (K Line Singapore) to supply their bunker-saving condition monitoring and automatic diagnostic system to one of K Line's container vessels.

A 2014 trial of the CMAXS LC-A tech demonstrated a "fuel and lubricating oil savings of 200 tonnes per year."

ClassNK says CMAXS LC-A's not only assists ship owners and operators in reducing bunker consumption and lubricating oil costs, but also provides a troubleshooting function to help crew prevent secondary damage and streamline repairs and maintenance.

ClassNK CMAXS LC-A is said to utlise "innovative diagnosis algorithms" in order to analyse various engine room sensor data in order to detect any early signs of machinery damage, negating the need for remote shoreside support.

Data and information collected through the system, including sensor data and condition monitoring results, are then sent to and stored on the cloud database managed by the Ship Data Center Co. Ltd. (Ship Data Center), which enables it to be shared between the ship and onshore managers.

As Ship & Bunker reported in December, the Ship Data Center is intended to serve as an information hub that can independently manage big data utilisation for the maritime industry.
