MAN Diesel & Turbo (MAN Diesel) says the first of its dual-fuel M-type, Electronically Controlled, Gas Injection (ME-GI) engines has been delivered to the American National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) shipyard for use in one of two liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered container ships ordered by TOTE.

Doosan Engine of Korea delivered the engine after an official trail run on June 3.

The ME-GI's Fuel Gas Supply System (FGSS) has also gone through extensive testing and passed all American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) regulations.

TOTE's order of the world's first LNG-powered containerships, using ME-GI engines, was announced in December 2012, and the engines have since been ordered for a number of other ships, including a Qatari Q-Max carrier conversion ordered early this year.
