Cavotec SA (Cavotec) says a "leading ship owner" has ordered six of its "AMPtainer" shore power connection solutions as part of five separate orders worth a combined value of more than €9 million ($9.58 million).

Cavotec describes the AMPtainers as specially adapted shipping containers, fitted with shore power connection equipment.

For the order, two are understood to be mobile units, while the remaining four "will, in the first project of its kind, be installed on two 13,000 TEU container vessels," the company says.

Elsewhere within its Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) segment, Cavotec says it is to supply AMP pits and covers for the Port of Yantian and has won an award for three AMP reels for the retrofit of a Yang Ming Line container vessel.

The company said the order was "an important development" for its presence within the Chinese market.

Cavotec says the largest of its latest orders has come from the port of Salalah in Oman for its MoorMaster MM400E vacuum-based automated mooring technology, which are reported to be set for installation in one of the port's container berths.

"These orders demonstrate how Cavotec continues to expand its presence in the global port equipment sector," said Ottonel Popesco, Cavotec's CEO.

"MoorMaster is one of our leading technologies and its continuing success at the Port of Salalah in Oman, and at other ports around world, underlines the great potential of the system."

In early November, upon the release of its third quarter results, Cavotec said that its Alternative Maritime Power systems for ships are "well positioned for growth, particularly as governments around the world focus on reducing vessel emissions."
