Verifavia Shipping (Verifavia) Wednesday announced that it has fully certified KROHNE Marine's EcoMATE MRV for use under the European Union's (EU) Monitoring Reporting and Verification (MRV) regulation.

As Ship & Bunker has previously reported, the MRV regulation will require shipping companies to submit ship-specific monitoring plans to verifiers for approval by the end of the August 2017, with per-voyage monitoring set to start on January 1, 2018.

EcoMATE MRV is able to monitor all vessel types within a fleet through a single integrated tool, accommodating both manual and online data entry to monitor operational data per voyage, conduct data quality checks and validations, and generate annual reports for each vessel.

"Our EcoMATE MRV system was specifically designed to improve energy efficiency reporting. Based on our robust and accurate Coriolis mass-flowmeters and an extension of our established EcoMATE system, the software will take care of data acquisition, logging, calculations, monitoring and reporting," said Hasse Hogner, Managing Director at KROHNE Marine.

"By simplifying data input and automating the calculation of emission and efficiency data, as well as reporting, EcoMATE MRV provides a simple and reliable solution to support compliance."

As Ship & Bunker reported in October, Julien Dufour, CEO of Verifavia said companies are not acting quickly enough to develop carbon emission monitoring systems for compliance with the MRV regulation.
