Marine energy management firm Marorka has announced in an emailed press release that it is expanding, following "a substantial injection of funds", by opening new offices in Europe and Asia as well as growing existing locations in order to service an increasingly global customer base.

"Our expansion plan was approved by the board in July, and Marorka is extending its worldwide network in 2014 and 2015 with new offices in Copenhagen, Singapore and Korea," said Ole Skatka Jensen, CEO, Marorka.

"These will be in addition to our existing presence in Greece and the Middle East, which will be strengthened. These are purposeful steps forward which underline the strong support and interest we find in the marketplace."

Icelandic firm Marorka said it was opening the offices in "strategically selected locations", with the Singapore office set to be in operation from November, and a location in China is also under consideration.

"When a company has a large customer-base all over the world, it must have a robust corporate infrastructure," said Skatka Jensen, CEO.

"The expansion is all about getting closer to our customers," he said.

Last month Marorka also opened a new R&D facility in Lund, Sweden, and says it will bolster its presence in Dubai and Athens by adding more staff there.

"Marorka will be the Energy Management Solution provider with the largest worldwide network in the maritime industry by the end of 2014," said Jensen.

Marorka launched its Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) tool at the end of 2012.
