Scorpio Bulkers Inc. says it has ordered another 10 dry bulk vessels from two Chinese shipyards for a total of $278 million.

The company ordered four 64,000 dead-weight-tonne (dw) Ultramax vessels from the Chengxi shipyard and six 82,000 dwt Kamsarmax dry bulk vessels from Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard.

The Ultramaxes are scheduled for delivery between the first quarter of 2015 and the second quarter of 2016, while the planned delivery dates for the Kamsarmax ships are between the fourth quarter of 2015 and the third quarter of 2016.

Scorpio Bulkers, a sister company of Scorpio Tankers founded this summer, now lists a total of 36 ships under construction on its website, with the first deliveries planned for the Q1 2015.

Eight of the ships are being built in Japan, and the rest will come from China.
