Brightoil Petroleum will start bunker supply operations at the East China ports of Zhoushan and Qingdao this month, a company source told Platts today.

Brightoil's plans were reported to include the use of a 3,200 metric tonne (mt) capacity barge at Zhoushan, and a 3,600 mt barge at Qingdao, both of which are owned by the company.

Bunker storage for the new operations will come from the lease of a 20,000 cubic meter capacity tank at Zhoushan, and a 60,000 cubic meter capacity tank at Qingdao.

Ship & Bunker reported last month that the company has also started work on its RMB1.32 billion ($215 million), 1.94 million cubic meter capacity storage facility on Waidiao Island, Zhoushan.

Brightoil currently supplies bunker fuel in China from the ports of Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Ningbo.
