Another Resignation for Brightoil
Edmund Lau, Brightoil Petroleum Holdings [HKG:0933] (Brightoil)'s Singapore head of fuel oil trading has resigned, becoming the seventh senior person to leave the company within the past six months, Reuters reports.
A Brightoil spokeswoman said the impact for the company would be minimal and that the office has a team of traders and is hiring more personnel for its fuel oil, crude, and chemicals desks in Singapore, the U.S., and Geneva.
The company announced in November that Quek Chin Thean, its global head of trading and chief executive of its Singapore operation, had left as well as a strategic reform of its Fuel Oil International Trading and Bunkering Business.
Lau led BP's Asia fuel oil trading team before joining Brightoil in 2010.
Brightoil Chairman Raymond Sit Kwong Lam said recently that the company plans to expand its bunkering operations in China significantly by next year, while also hiring 50 to 60 new staff for its global bunkering team and diversifying into crude oil trading.
