A build up of heavy fog this week in waters around Istanbul is causing disruption to bunkering in the area, local sources have told Ship & Bunker.

On Wednesday some 168 ships were said to be waiting to transit the Bosphorus, and 118 ships waiting to transit the Dardanelles strait.

"It has been two days now that Istanbul has been under very heavy fog, and it is affecting shipping and bunkering," a local bunker player told Ship & Bunker.

"The bunker barges have all been loaded and are ready for supplying, but the receiving ships are unable to come and get the bunkers."
