St Petersburg headquartered Baltic Fuel Company LLC (BFC) on Monday took delivery of a new bunker tanker, Afyer Ka, IAA PortNews reports.

The new tanker arrived from Turkey on Monday at the port of Kavkaz and will be used for bunkering operations in the Azov-Black Sea basin.

The ice-class double hull tanker is said to meet MARPOL annex VI requirements, features 10 cargo tanks and has a deadweight of 3,950 tonnes.

It will continue to be classified by classification body Bureau Veritas and will be registered by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

Built in 2007, the Afyer Ka will be renamed Abrau and joins BFC's fleet of 33 bunkering vessels operating in Russia's north west region.

Earlier this month BFC announced plans to build an oil terminal on reclaimed land at St Petersburg's Big Port.
