Total Lubmarine has added a new barge to serve ships in Rotterdam, the company said in an emailed statement.

The Atlantic Energy, named in a ceremony this week, is a 1,560 deadweight tonne (dwt) double-hulled barge with 16 cargo tanks for the transportation of cylinder oils, system oils, and trunk piston engine oils.

With a 35-meter bunker boom, the barge will be able to provide deliveries to the largest containerships at the Rotterdam Port and Europoort in Rotterdam.

The ship is owned by Atlantic Horizon Group and operated by Posttrans B.V.

"There was a real need for this new barge to ensure that our customers are not left without the crucial products necessary to keep ship operations running smoothly," said Norbert Schieren, general manager for Total Lubmarine.

Schieren said the new barge reflects the company's continual efforts to upgrade its services.

Total Lubmarine added three 700 dwt double-hulled barges in Singapore last year, as Shipbuilding Tribute reported at the time.

The company says it will continue to make additions to its fleet in "strategic locations" next year.
