DNV GL Friday announced that it has signed a new partnership agreement for its "ECO Insight" vessel efficiency tool with M.A.C. Solutions that will see information from SDBnet, M.A.C.'s onboard vessel data collection system, incorporated into DNV GL's ECO Insight solution.

SDBnet is described as a web-based soft- and hardware platform where data points can be manually reported by the vessel crew and optionally collected by on board sensors, providing a variety of fleet performance analytics including bunker consumption.

"ECO Insight works with many different data sources, so we like to work [with] quality autologging providers like M.A.C., giving shipping companies options to choose from," said Dr. Torsten Büssow, Global Head of Fleet Performance Management DNV GL – Maritime.

"ECO Insight creates additional performance insights with this data, for example on hull and engine degradation, fuel quality or with benchmarks to market averages or satellite weather. DNV GL and M.A.C have been working together on customer projects over some months and we are very happy with the cooperation."

Earlier this month, DNV GL announced that Hamburg-based shipping company Leonhardt & Blumberg is now using its fuel saving ECO Insight fleet performance management solution on its entire 40-vessel fleet.
