Brightoil VLCC Delivered
Hong Kong-based Brightoil Petroleum (Holdings) Ltd. (Brightoil) has received its second Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC), the "Brightoil Gravity," the company announced.
The vessel, with a designed capacity of 318,000 DWT, has an onboard blending facility allowing the company to mix different grades of cargo while the ship is at sea, minimising costs on shore.
"The vessel is among the largest tankers in the world, and its design is the most modern and fuel efficient of its kind," the company said in a statement.
Brightoil has ordered five VLCCs, with the first one delivered in July and the rest scheduled for delivery by the first half of 2013.
After all five ships are delivered, Brightoil says its fleet will have a total capacity of more than 2 million DWT with the ability to carry approximately 20 million tonnes of oil each year.
Brightoil is the largest marine bunkering service provider in Shenzhen Port and the surrounding area, and has expanded its operations in Asia and Europe in recent years, with plans for more expansion in the near future, according to its website.
It is also expanding its portfolio into petroleum products beyond bunker fuel into crude oil, middle and light distillates.
