Veritas Petroleum Services (VPS) today announced in an emailed press release the appointment of Gerard Rohaan as its new Chief Executive Officer effective May 1, 2015.

Gerard Rohaan succeeds Eirik Andreassen, who VPS said has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer.

"The new Board of Management will consist of Gerard Rohaan and Stan Peeters respectively as CEO and CFO. Eirik Andreassen will support this transition in an advisory role, and will remain with the company until the end of 2015," the testing, inspection and advisory solutions company said.

Rohaan was said to have a wealth of management expertise, and prior to joining VPS was SVP of the Continental Europe Division with the technical service provider Stork.

He previously worked in various senior management positions and international locations, having spent 10 years at energy major Shell, 2 years at McKinsey & Company, and was with Unilever for 7 years.

"I would like to thank Eirik for his efforts over the last four years in VPS, and particularly for the work he has done as CEO during the exit from DNV and the transition to an independent company," said VPS Chairman John Notman-Watt.

"VPS has a strong market position, which our Shareholder expects to further expand. In this new phase of the company, the Board of Management will focus on international growth."

In January VPS named Michael McNamara as its new managing director for the Americas.
