Heavy Lift Firm Adding 15 Fuel-Saving Ships
Heavy lift and project cargo transporter Intermarine LLC (Intermarine) says it is adding 15 ships to its fleet.
"We are launching our fleet renewal program with long term charters on a series of new vessels from Sanfu Shipyard and Huanghai, two of the foremost builders of ships in China," said Frank Fischer, managing director for tonnage procurement.
"These state-of-the-art, fuel-efficient, eco-friendly new builds further enhance and validate our commitment to being a high quality partner and operator in heavy lift/project transport.
"They also help us meet the rising demands of our valued customers."
President and CEO Alfred J.V. Stanley said the company is working with "excellent owners" on the program.
"These mid-size new builds will form the core of our future fleet and provide an industry leading level of flexibility and efficiency," he said.
"This is in line with our strategy of focusing on our customer's cargo and providing the best available tonnage."
The first of the ships will enter service in 2015, and deliveries will continue over two years.
Intermarine offers liner and chartering services in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Oceania, according to its website.
