Fuel Scrubber Eyed for Shore-Side Use
Poly Shield Technologies Inc. (Poly Shield), a U.S. company that is marketing fuel scrubbers to ship owners, says it is studying the possibility of using its technology to provide low sulfur bunkers from land.
"We have received a number of inquiries regarding the possible application of our DSOX-15 Fuel Purification Technology as a shore side low sulfur fuel distribution system," said CEO Rasmus Norling.
"Which if it proves to be a viable application of the DSOX-15 Fuel Purification Technology could represent a significant new market for our technology."
The product is designed to remove sulfur from fuel and is aimed at the maritime industry but may have uses in other industries as well, the company said.
Poly Shield is working with LMS Shipmanagement Inc., a subsidiary of International Shipholdings Corp., [NYSE:ISH] (International Shipholdings) to test the system on two vessels.
