Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. [NYSE: ANW] (Aegean) has announced in an emailed statement it has more than doubled its operational capacity in Vancouver, Canada with the introduction of a state of the art, double hull newbuild bunker barge.

Designated PT40, the barge has a capacity of 3,600 metric tonnes (mt) and pumping rates of 450 mt per hour

"The introduction of PT40 reaffirms Aegean's commitment as a key supplier in British Columbia's major ports (Vancouver, Nanaimo, Victoria and New Westminster)," said Aegean.

"This barge more than doubles Aegean's current operational capacity and will allow the company to do both more volume and improve service to its customers in this dynamic region."

Aegean says PT40 will have an individual product capacity of 2,500 mt for IFO and 1,100 mt for MGO.

All standard grades of IFO can be supplied, such as IFO500, IFO380, and IFO180, and MGO supply will meet the current 0.1 percent sulfur Emissions Control Area (ECA) standard, the supplier noted, adding that it "looks forward to demonstrating its new barge capability to its customers."
