General Dynamics NASSCO announced Saturday that it christened the Liberty, the third liquefied natural gas (LNG)-ready ECO Class tanker intended for SEA-Vista LLC (SEA-Vista).

The 50,000 DWT Liberty is also noted to feature 33 percent increased fuel efficiency through various features, including a G-series MAN ME slow-speed main engine and optimised hull form.

The tanker is said to symbolise the "emerging direction of the shipping industry in the U.S. toward cleaner modes of transporting product."

In November, General Dynamics NASSCO announced that the sixth in the series of eight eco-friendly and LNG-ready tankers, the Constitution, was delivered to SEA-Vista in San Diego.
