TRIYARDS Holdings Limited (TRIYARDS) Wednesday announced that it has been awarded a $21.82 million contract by Taiwanese oil and gas company CPC Corporation (CPC) for the construction of two bunker barges.

The barges, which are slated for delivery in the second quarter of its FY2018 ending August 31, are intended to supply fuel to vessels in Taiwan's harbour and coastal areas, says TRIYARDS.

"This attests to our continued efforts to diversify our orderbook beyond the traditional O&G (oil and gas) sector. Not only have we broadened our product range but we have also added another blue - chip name to our growing pool of clients," said Chan Eng Yew, CEO of TRIYARDS.

"With our flexibility in engineering and fabrication solutions, TRIYARDS is well positioned to address opportunities beyond the O&G sector."

In July, the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) granted an approval in principle (AIP) to a liquefied natural gas (LNG) articulated tug-barge (ATB) designed by U.S.-based Jensen Maritime.

In February, Ship & Bunker reported that five naval officers were being investigated in Taiwan for allegedly siphoning fuel off ships for sale on the black market.
