Russia's Port Kavkaz Doubles Bunker Sales as Q1 Throughput Triples
Monday April 13, 2015
Bunker sales at Russia's Port of Kavkaz have doubled in the first quarter of 2015 compared to this time last year, PortNews reports.
According to Acting Harbourmaster Sergei Naumov, bunker sales rose to 84,500 tonnes between January and March 2015.
The amount of cargo handled also reportedly jumped 300 percent compared to the year before to 3.6 million tonnes, while the number of calls made at the port also doubled to 2,846.
Exports purportedly more than doubled due to favourable weather, though imports fell three times due to less shipments from Crimea and the Ukraine.
Last month, the port reported sales for the first two months of the year had tripled, largely due to increased supplies of cargo to the Crimean Republic.
