Industry Expert John Phillips Joins Gulf Petrochem in Singapore as New Head of Credit Risk for Bunkering

Gulf Petrochem Tuesday announced in an emailed statement it has appointed John Phillips as Head of Credit Risk for the Group's Bunkering division.

Phillips will be based in Singapore.

"With over 30 years experience in the Maritime sector, John is a well known expert in the industry and will focus on areas such as Credit Management (focused on Bunker business), Credit insurance & Bunker business development," the company said.

Phillips was most recently the Global Head of Credit and Director at Soyuz Bunkering Group (Singapore) Pte Ltd, while his previous appointments also include working for Chemoil Energy Ltd, where he was responsible for the creation, implementation, and management of global credit and counter party risk policy.

"We are delighted to have John Phillips on board to lead the company's credit risk for our Bunker division from Singapore," said Group Director Prerit Goel.

"John has a strong proven track record of executing corporate strategy, business development, driving operational efficiency and delivering value to all stakeholders in bunker segment. His appointment will help the company focus on delivering the next level of growth from its assets.

Phillips is a graduate in Maritime Business with Maritime Law and completed his MSc in Port Management at the University of Plymouth, UK in 2002.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, a chartered member of the Institute of Logistics & Transport, and a Member of the Institute of Petroleum, IBIA, and IECA.
